I completed my 28 days of radiation. I have to say that for me, it was very easy. I had no side effects that I know of and I worked thru the entire thing, but only 6 hrs days because of the treatment hours available. I had many fears of working during this, but it was fine. I took a few days off here & there just to do it.

My good friend invited me to come to PA to celebrate & do a spa day. It was great & I had a great weekend with her & the family.

I will spend this weekend commemorating the 1 year anniversary of the sudden loss of my husband, shortly after our 30th wedding anniversary. We had a huge vacation booked to celebrate. I left for the weekend to visit our daughter and found him when I returned home. He was a wonderful, wild & crazy Irish man who live life full speed ahead. He always said he wanted to go fast, but it’s tough on us left! I’ll love him always & cherish the time I had with him.

What a year, widow, cancer…next I need a hip replacement. It seems the fun never stops! Yet, I am at peace & happy for all the wonderful people in my life. Also, thanks to all my friends here for your wonderful support!

Congrats to you on finishing your rad tx. I remember when I was done—what a relief! I wish you the very best!

hi, laurie. thought you would like a little note from your cancer sister. i am so glad you are done with your radiation and that you did so well. i was very sad to read that you lost your husband last year. i am so sorry for your loss. it sounds like he passed just the way he would have wanted to, though. i can’t imagine how awful it was for you to come home from your visit with your daughter and find him, though. and now a hip replacement…. girl, you just have to find something to do that doesn’t involve doctors! lol i wish you the very best always. you seem like a terrific person and i am so glad to have met you. i am doing well post surgery. still a little sore, but i am getting around quite well. you take care and please know that i will always be including you in my prayers. keep the faith. debby

You have a fantastic attitude. Congrats on finishing your radiation treatment.

Radiation-Week 3
Views: 1169

I have 12 of 28 radiation treatments done. I’m still working full time, But it’s only a 7 hr day since I have the 4 PM time slot. (I usually work 9-10 hrs).

So far, I’m doing great. The appointments are fast & easy and I love getting out of work early. I don’t have any side effects. This week I do feel a little tired. I could be my wild crazy weekend, or just trying to do too much, or it could be some mild fatigue setting in. I’ll never know, but going to bed an hour earlier is OK by me!

I found that the radiation was pretty easy til the last two weeks. Then I was super tired and my skin was so burned. But I am ghostly white and burn so fast. Almost half way there!

hi, laurie. i posted on my blog, but thought i would give you a quick shout on yours. surgery is going to be on 9/14 at 0800… traditional. the surgeon said there will be a pathologist in the o.r. and what he finds as far as how invasive the cancer is will determine how many lymph nodes will be removed. and the results of that will determine what kind of treatment i will need afterwards. i just hope that if i have to have chemo or radiation that i can keep working like you are doing. i do not do well with being home all the time. i will be going nuts just being home for 6 weeks after the surgery. i am in very good spirits and i don’t have a doubt that i will beat this thing. it may not be easy… but i will succeed. i am praying for you everyday and hoping you are feeling well. take good care of yourself and rest when you are tired. as always, keep the faith! debby

Muff,
Hang in there. Look at it this way, you are almost half way finished! Right. I didn’t have too much trouble with rad. but chemo was a diff. story. Rad. did make me cough (my lungs got burned) & my back itches allllll the time, I got tired, but I’m older than most, my bone density got bad, but I think over all I did good. I had 39 treatments! I feel like I must glow in the dark, like a lightin’ bug. (hehehe) Have they said anything about if you will need chemo???
Here’s hoping rad. will do the trick. Rest when you can, so it doesn’t creep up on you & grab you from behind. Sending Hugs for healing. (HFH)
